The branding ideas below may give you a major competitive edge. While your competitors are busy doing what they’ve always done, posting on Instagram. You can consider these innovative tactics. Consider using one of these branding ideas over the next 10 weeks.
#1 Write a Blog Post
Do you have a Blog? A small business blog is a marketing tool. Marketing is how you position your product, find your customers, and decide how you’re going to reach them. What will you blog about? Your product, service and need to make a difference. For example, if you sell decorated cookies. You might blog about the usefulness of custom decorated cookies. At events, as gifts, showcasing a company logo and as a fundraiser. You know, an alternative to Girl Scout Cookies.
#2 Offer Your Customers a Daily Inspirational Quote
Like a fortune cookie, it will be a bit of sunshine they’ll look forward to daily or weekly inspiration.
“Stories aren’t the icing on the cake; they are the cake!” Peter Guber
#3 Showcase Yourself Behind the Scenes
If you’re a home-based baker or food processor it’s not likely your customers will see you in your natural habitat.
#4 Offer Customers a Tip
Suggest to your customer how to serve your product? Breakfast, lunch or dinner. Serve cold, hot or a room temperature.
#5 Share your favorite cookbook. (Mine is Yolanda Gampp’s How to Cake It: Cakebook
You’re not sharing a cookbook that shows customers how to make your product (I bake pies!) but one that might complement your product. If you make jams or jellies, share a recipe for scones, rolls or homemade bread.
#6. Create a meme and have your customers fill in the blank. For example: If I could have only one scoop of ice cream it would be __________________ flavored!
#7 Send out a request for testimonials using your mailing list. Gather them all up and have them ready for posting on your website or social media platform.
#8 Food Porn. Take lots of photos of the food you produce. You can never have too many. Share on social media and create a gallery for your customers.
#9 Share a team photo. If you’re a solopreneur, take photos of yourself selling your products. Don’t forget to smile.
#10 Offer a Sneak Peek Teaser. If you are unrolling a new product, share it in stages. Build the anticipation.
